Chartered Financial Planner – Director

Elaine Bonello joined the family practice in 1990, initially as a client relations executive. She became an Accredited Representative for the Company’s stock broking firm in 1992, and was appointed as a director of Financial Planning Services Ltd in 1993.

In January 1997 Elaine qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) specializing in financial planning, life assurance and pensions. She furthered her studies and, in September 2001, became an Associate of the UK’s then Society of Financial Advisors, today the Personal Finance Society, with a specialization in personal investment planning and portfolio management.

In March 2001 she was licensed by the Malta Stock Exchange Council to act as a Stockbroker.

In 2005 the Privy Council of Great Britain granted special permission to the CII to award Chartered status to financial advisors who met the qualifications criteria. Elaine was the first person outside the UK to be awarded the status of Chartered Financial Planner.

Elaine believes that gender is not important to get to grips with money matters. She has contributed articles on personal financial planning in the local press and participated in radio and TV discussions.

Elaine is a 17-year Qualifying and Life member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the Premier Association of Financial Professionals with 39000 members in 85 countries. She has served on several MDRT committees and in 2009 was elected Chairperson of the Young Advisors Task Force. She has earned MDRT Honour Roll membership and for  two years she qualified as a Court of the Table member. For the past two years she has qualified for Top of the Table  membership – a select group of (financial) advisors who rank among the top 0.1% of all financial advisors worldwide.

In 2010, she was appointed Captain on MDRT’s Program Development Committee, the Committee which oversees the organisation of the Annual Meeting which is attended by approximately 6,000 attendees from more than 75 countries.

She has attended a number of international financial fora and conferences, and has also been a speaker at financial services conferences in Atlanta, Toronto and New Orleans.
